Nationals Welcome Event Booklet
Plas Heli
The IOCA UK British & Open Championships are being held at Plas Heli, the Welsh National Sailing Academy and Events Centre, Pwllheli, North Wales on the 3 - 8 August 2024. Pwllheli and the waters of Tremadog Bay are widely regarded as being one of the best dinghy sailing venues in the UK. The IODA Euros were held there in 2015 and you can read a report of that event here. For more information about Plas Heli have a look at their prospectus
The event will open on Saturday 3 August with Registration in the afternoon and racing on Sunday 4th through to Thursday 8th August. There will be a sailors' party on the Thursday evening, with Friday being the departure day.
Event Team
Volunteers are required for the Nationals 24 Event Team there are roles ashore and on the water. If you are new to all this then rest assured that most roles need no prior experience and someone will make sure you know what you are doing! There's information on our webpage and a document which describes the volunteer roles in detail. Equipment Declaration
An online Equipment Declaration must be completed by all sailors in Main Fleet.

Three fleets for the Nationals 2024
For the Nats 24 there will be a Main Fleet Senior and Junior, a Racing Regatta Fleet and a Coached Regatta Fleet (find more information on which fleet is right for you here.
GBR Sailors entry
GBR sailors must be current IOCA UK member for 2024. Join the class or renew membership before making an online entry.
International Sailor entry
International sailors must be a current member of a National Optimist organisation. When entering please select 'International' entry.
